Free of conventional places of work, distant staff are relocating everywhere in the nation, fueling “Zoom booms” in distant cities. In Crested Butte, Colorado, the brand new inflow is leaving locals with nowhere to reside, prompting the city to declare a housing emergency.

Just wait till they buy all the land. walking or playing in the forest will be illegal
I remember living in Park City,Utah and watching it go from a small, cozy little mining town to huge growth overnight. As housing became less affordable, so many locals had to move elsewhere. I can only imagine what it is like now. Luckily I invested in real estate when it was extremely low priced. I was able to rent my properties for reasonable prices . I hope it goes well for those people.
Soooooo, some people loosing homes due to pandemic, some people making millions from homes due to pandemic. Interesting.
Haha, liberal hipsters slinging dough and sleeping in tents. Winning.
Excellent Production . Thanks .
0:52 She found the solution nobody else is looking at. Build more homes for the less affluent for lack of a better term. You dont need to continuously build 5 room homes. Build smaller 1 or 2 bedroom homes and apartments. Not rocket science.
Sounds like it's turning into another Aspen.
Like so many Colorado mountain towns- Fraser, Dillon, Durango, Silverton, Steamboat Springs- working class people are getting squeezed out. The guy whining about tax on his second home is a big part of what is wrong in this country.
Video makes me miss gunni so damn much
You've got a bunch of people who destroyed their cities through the policies that they supported and are now afraid of what may happen. So now they are invading the rual areas that they've made fun of for safety, but yet they are so ignorant that they will soon ruin the simplicity of rual America.
It might all be okay when Elon's robots make the pizza
One problem with this is that when someone comes in from these out of control markets, like coastal CA and sell their modest property for a million dollars and move to the Rockies to some small town and find a home they like, they don't give a second thought to looking at what comparable homes were going for. They just see it as a steal and start dumping money on the table, unable to believe their good fortune at finding a home so cheap. Enough people do this and the price goes up to where people whose ancestors settled that area can't afford to live there anymore. That's why the locals get so mad.
This is America the great.
Either your rich or your poor.
That town was paradise, until Vice got involved. Bro you belong in Boulder or the Denver area
This is happening to me here Phoenix.
Wow! I thought this was only happening in democrat ran California. Gentrification is at an all time high in democrat controlled cities and states. They love the poor so much that they push them out of the cities and states that they control. When they take over the 50 states, the poor will be kicked out of the U.S. Poor folks! Keep voting democrat. Many years ago when Colorado was not ran by poor loving democrats, friends of mine in CA moved to Colorado and told me about how affordable housing was in Colorado back then. I guess democrats were not ruling Colorado back then.
That's an example of "inclusion", "building back better" and "bringing people together". You folks in Colorado voted for it and little by little turned your state into a blue state. Keep voting blue.
Simple we poor people live rv parks make bunch of those. Lot space is 300 to 650. All you do buy box if your choice. Have nice day
"History doesn't repeat itself but it rhymes". Mark Twain. This stuff happens in Cycles but I didn't expect this cycle to happen so soon.
“This eat the rich French Revolution-“ dude you have multiple homes while people who need to work in the place you want to come visit have no place to stay don’t you think it’s not a lot to pay extra tax?
We packed up and left highlands ranch Colorado for the same reason. My mortgage for a 3 bed 3 bath single family home, double stall garage, fenced yard, and all updated in the Midwest is 300 dollars less a month than my one bed room apartment of lucent and plaza in HR. :/
Many places in Colorado have had an over inflated real estate market since early 2000's or 2010.
We give to charities while we kick you out of your home
you own how many houses and have a business and yet you still need to make money ? sickening
I used to have the tax the rich mind-set until I started building my business. Building a business is so hard. So why should I be taxed when I want to enjoy the fruit of my labor.
Tax more to those having multiple properties man.
Over population is destroying everywhere. Eventually everyone will be cremated because cemeteries will be full and there won't be any land for new ones.
Sounds like the same issues that have been plaguing Hawaii – property getting bought up outpricing locals and natives
How about she just pay her employees more.
Eat the rich sounds good. At least in this stupid situation
I sincerely hope they put that rule in. No one person needs to control the entire town
Welcome to America folks. You are not entitled to live somewhere because you like it. We are pay to play, and that is what keeps us growing and innovating and progressing. Sorry Pizza guy, you are not as important to a town as those who pay land taxes, capitol gains taxes, and higher income taxes. Don't like it, work harder, save, sacrifice, start a business, invest. Better yourself and it will be a boon to your community. 🇺🇲
And they have the audacity to say we can't find employees for our businesses.
Just got forced out of my town where I was a farmer because of this same scenario
as soon as people get money, they need more
Welcome back to feudalism! Enjoy!
House pricing is outrageous, so how can you expect people to afford buying the homes?
Why dont they just build more houses?
That pizza shop owner is literally a feudal lord… how does someone like that sleep at night? Knowing you’re regressing American society.
