The Kharai are a uncommon breed of camel discovered within the salt marshes of Kutch district within the western state of Gujarat.
They swim as much as three kilometres within the shallow seas to succeed in their grazing land – the area’s mangroves. However now native herdsmen say it is taking longer and getting tougher to seek out mangroves the place their camels can graze.
Salt firms within the area are blocking tidal water and slowly drying up mangroves. And that is endangering the lives of the camels in addition to their future.
