Senior Congress chief Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday demanded motion in opposition to seven celebration MLAs in Maharashtra who cross-voted over the last month’s legislative council elections, resulting in an embarrassing defeat of a celebration candidate.

Congress celebration’s second nominee Chandrakant Handore, a former minister and Dalit chief, misplaced the June 20 biennial elections to the Higher Home of the state legislature. “I’ve demanded that the celebration take motion in opposition to seven MLAs who voted for the BJP ensuing within the defeat of Handore,” the previous Maharashtra CM advised PTI.

On the difficulty of Congress legislators remaining absent through the July 4 belief vote moved within the Meeting by the Eknath Shinde-led authorities, Chavan stated it was his private opinion that the celebration ought to search an evidence from them. “However I have never demanded motion in opposition to them (Congress MLAs who didn’t participate in belief vote), ” the previous Union minister stated.

About 10 Congress MLAs, together with former CM Ashok Chavan, weren’t current within the Meeting through the belief vote which was simply received by the Shinde authorities. The Congress was part of the erstwhile Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi authorities.
